What a weekend to be had! The Westmoreland Berry Farm welcomed families from all over Virginia to celebrate Mother’s Day, and visitors were greeted with abundant sunshine, a slow, consistent breeze and temperatures hovering in the mid-70s. Despite all of the rain and dreary weather, the Farm’s staff has been hard at work to ensure that visitors will have their choice of the finest, highest-quality berries possible. The sunshine and temperatures were just a taste of what’s to come in the spring and summer growing seasons!
The Pick-Your-Own strawberries were ripe and plentiful, but berries weren’t the only attraction available to visitors on the Farm. Our new GIANT Adirondack chair made for a fun backdrop for family photos, and will surely become a favorite for future visitors. Many also enjoyed our hill slide, giant checkers, bean bag tossing and tractor rides to and from the Pick-Your-Own fields. Despite the tractor rides, many visitors still opted to walk and enjoy the beautiful day and natural scenery surrounds the Farm and Voorhees Nature Preserve.
One of the newest, cutest attractions at the Westmoreland Berry Farm for the 2016 growing season are the four baby goats! These energetic little kids are an absolute hoot, and will make a great addition to the Farm’s family. Names for the new goats will be announced on Monday, May 16th, so there’s still time to visit the Farm, meet the baby goats and cast your ballot!
All of this moving around certainly built up an appetite. Twinkle’s Cafe was busy all day grilling hot dogs and hamburgers for hungry guests, who also cooled off with infused waters and ice-cold lemonades. The Westmoreland Berry Farm was absolutely thrilled to treat visiting Moms to a complimentary Ice Cream Sundae in honor of Mother’s Day and all that they do. Meals were topped off with an afternoon wine tasting, courtesy of the fine folks at Monroe Bay Winery, located just down the road from the Farm.
In summary, we appreciate and are grateful that so many families in our community, as well as the Fredericksburg, Stafford and Spotsylvania areas, chose the Westmoreland Berry Farm as the destination to spend their Mother’s Day. We hope to become an annual tradition, not only for Mother’s Day but for any other special occasion or family outing. Visit The Farm when you get an opportunity and learn about what awaits you on your trip!
